Based on the principle of the circular economy, we decided to create humaya around upcycling. A challenge in the world of shoes since this process complicates production logistics, but an undeniable added value: we offer you colors in limited series.

What is upcycling?
humaya is a range of colorful shoes in upcycled leather.
Upcycling, or surcyclage in French, means. We are giving a second life to these stocks of existing materials, which have been lying dormant for years in warehouses.
At humaya, we use pre-existing leather stocks to make our shoes. We find quality, ultra-colorful leathers, sometimes made more than 10 years ago, and stored in warehouses ever since. The risk: that they are considered waste and therefore end up thrown away or even burned.
What is the difference between recycling and upcycling?
Recycling involves transforming used materials into new products. Recyclable materials, such as plastic, glass, paper and metal, are collected, sorted and transformed into new products. Recycling helps reduce the amount of waste sent to landfill and preserves natural resources by avoiding the production of new materials.
Upcycling, on the other hand, is a processing technique that involves taking existing materials and transforming them into higher quality or higher value products . Instead of simply recycling materials by using energy and resources to turn them into new products, upcycling gives new life to materials that would otherwise be considered waste.

In addition to being eco-responsible, this circular economy concept allows us to offer you colors in limited quantities. Indeed, when a stock of leather is exhausted, there will be no restocking possible. This leather will SIMPLY no longer be available. Bye bye purple leather stock!

It is also this rarity and uniqueness that convinced us to create a brand of colorful shoes in upcycled leather. Ethical fashion is possible, without abandoning the aesthetic and design aspect of our products.

Looking for a pair of colorful and eco-responsible shoes, we realized that it was difficult to find the right shoe for us. We therefore decided to take the bull by the horns by embarking on an entrepreneurial adventure to offer a brand that is both colorful and ethical thanks to the use of upcycled leather!
